The Importance of a Writer's Notebook

  In writing workshop, everyone has a story to tell.  When people tell their stories, it changes the relationship between the people in the room.  We, as teacher facilitators in the writing community, offer a lifetime guarantee.  Of course, we help our students grow as writers and readers, but we do more than that.  With our voice and passion for learning, we help students become adults who choose to read and write – not because they have to do it - but because they want to do it!  When we keep a writer’s notebook, we can preserve our classroom memories.  Expect your students to keep a writer’s notebook, write in them daily or at least several times a week, and preserve their childhood memories.   These short bursts of writing will help build writing muscles and stamina for the longer pieces they will also do!
