What people are saying about Lynne and Rose & Mentor Texts:
I use both books, Mentor Texts: Teaching Writing Through Children's Literature K-6, and Mentor Texts: Teaching Informational Writing Through Children's Literature K-6 all the time! The "Your Turn" Lesson Plans at the end of each chapter are so helpful. My favorite "Your Turn Lesson" is in the Informational Book, where the students use the mentor text, Seven Brave Women, by Betsy Hearne, to write their own family histories. These books are a must have for all writing teachers!

I have known Lynne and Rose for years and every time I see them present I learn something new! They demonstrate their ideas in illuminating and useful ways. As presenters they engage their participants in thoughtful helpful activities with always their goals being: “how will this benefit kids in the classroom?” Their communications skills are upbeat and lively- and respectful of teachers! Lynne and Rose are fabulous presenters- their presentations are informative, instructive and entertaining! They make learning fun!

"Mentor Texts and Nonfiction Mentor Texts have guided my writing instruction and provided a tremendous platform for student success. Rose and Lynne reinvigorate the basics of literacy while providing a practical resource for teachers. The Treasure Chest of Books chapters alone make each book a necessary component of one's professional library."

Lynne and Rose’s books are simply inspiring! The books are teacher friendly, offering a variety of sensible, ready-to-use lessons and ideas that support writing instruction in the 21st century classroom. Their practical approach to delivering quality, age appropriate lessons in the elementary classroom is hard to match. Children learn through practice and example. The books provide the students with both of those elements. Mentor texts are the foundation of our writing workshop. Exposing the students to quality literature and allowing them to learn from the authors of these texts have changes our students as writers. Lynne and Rose's books are a vital part of our classroom and our classroom writing community!
