Imagine...!

Today starts the March Slice of Life Story Challenge at Two Writing Teachers, so for the next thirty –one days I will be posting small moment stories about my life and experiences, my family, or my pets. Sometimes I might share a slice of my thinking, like I do in today’s post.

Since this is the second year I have been a participant in this challenge, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about last year and what being a part of this writing community meant to me. I needed a push to get started, but once I got going, I looked forward to writing every day, discovering what others were writing and thinking, and reading the comments left for me. Last week I geared up for the challenge by rereading all my posts from last March – some were good, some not so good, many were surprising. I’ve tried here to sum up my thinking by borrowing the scaffold used by Rob Gonsalves in his books Imagine a Day, Imagine a Night, Imagine a Place, and Imagine a World.

Imagine… finding stories in your everyday routines.

Imagine…seeing the world through wide awake eyes, observing from a different perspective, being in the moment.

Imagine… growing in confidence as a writer.

Imagine… learning about others’ struggles and worries and loves and fears and experiences - and thinking how much they are like your own.

Imagine… laughing out loud or being brought to tears – sometimes in the same post!

Imagine… joining a writing community that offers daily support and encouragement.

Imagine… the March Slice of Life Story Challenge!

If you’re thinking about joining in, it’s not too late! Check here for more information.
