April Morning

Although I believe we should not save poetry for just April, since it is April, I’ve been trying to do more reading of poetry. I also planned to do more poetry writing this month, but I just wasn’t inspired…until today.

This morning as I left for yoga a gentle, warm rain was falling. We just finished two days of beautiful warm sunshine that begged for a walk outdoors. The rain this morning could have been a let-down, but instead it made me feel happy and hopeful and content. I could almost feel the sustenance it was providing to the flowers and trees we will soon be celebrating. So I tried my hand at a haiku.

                                                                                     April Morning

                                                                                   I look to the sky
                                                                            Gentle rain kisses my face
                                                                                    Renewal of life

We had a brief shower that seemed to be kissing this morning. It was such a cleansing feeling because the sun came out right afterward. Great haiku.

Love that you found renewal in the rain --- and your poem. Renewal is a great image for this time of year in Boston.

Thanks
Clare

A gentle rain does act as a renewing agent. Glad you found inspiration in it.

Thank you for sharing your haiku! Not only did I enjoy the haiku, but I also enjoyed the writing that led up to it. All too often, I forget to enjoy the rainy days as well as the sunny ones. Thank you for a gentle reminder.

I usually view rain as making my day ho-hum, but your poem makes me appreciate the goodness of a rainy day!

That's a way better way to look at rainy days. My perspective is much bleaker. (I don't like getting wet unless I'm at the beach or the pool.)

Beautiful poem, Rose.
