International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8. According to Wikipedia, the celebration differs in different parts of the world. The day can be one that focuses on a celebration of respect, appreciation, and love towards women, or it can have a more economic and political concentration. I decided to celebrate the day with a bio-poem to honor my daughter, who has grown into a fine young woman and who fills my heart with joy and pride.

                                     Ann
                                                     Intelligent, independent, inventive
Who loves black dogs, red wine, yellow flowers, and orange sunsets
Who appreciates her helpful neighbors, her giving parents, and her fun-to-be-with friends
Who needs help with cooking and advice on gardening
Who gives counsel to children in need and joy to those around her
Who is not afraid of trying new things (like skydiving) or living alone in far-away places (like Costa Rica)
Who dreams of an end to violence
                                                                Resident of my heart
                                                                       Free thinker

Your daughter sounds like a wonderfully strong woman, who takes after her incredible mom in many ways.
